'97 Retrospective, Celebrating 20 Years --> "Supa Dupa Fly"

Man, my busy schedule these days I'll tell you, lol, but it's all good when you're taking care of business. July 15, 2017 was the 20th anniversary of Missy Elliott's debut album, "Supa Dupa Fly." I have an interesting story about Missy and this album. Now check this here:

I had first heard Missy on a couple of dope remixes in late 1996, courtesy of 702's "Steelo" and Gina Thompson's "The Things You Do", respectively. She did her thing on those songs and I was cool with her..... until "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" dropped. Initially, I thought this song was rather silly and for a short time I never cared for it at all. It wasn't until a family trip to Orlando, Florida in the frequently talked about summer of '97 when I finally warmed up to this song. My reaction was, "wow, it's not bad after all." From there, I would hear other equally good singles such as "Sock It 2 Me" featuring Da Brat, the Lil' Kim assisted "Hit Em wit da Hee" and "Beep Me 911" with 702. Finally, my aunt Denise bought me the CD for Christmas (which she gave to me on Christmas Eve), one of many reasons why Christmas '97 was a memorable one. It goes without saying that I really liked the rest of the album and to this day, I still play it from time to time (and yes, it instantly takes me back to those moments in time). I haven't reviewed this album on my  blog, but I would likely award it a respectable 3.5 or 4 stars (Missy's vocals were a very good match for Timbaland's usually dope production). Missy, thanks for this album and the memories it provided.
