Just Checking In (3/12/2015)

What's good hip hop world! Since the time I work on my blog is limited at this point, going forward whenever I have a decent amount of time, I'll stop by/check in to let you all know what's going on with me and of course give you my brand, if you will, of hip hop talk. And for those who continue to support the blog, I just want to say thank you and as usual the support is continuously appreciated!!!

*I want to start by talking about Kendrick Lamar for a bit. At first I wasn't a fan, but it wasn't until I listened to "Section 80" the second time that he eventually grew on me. From there I bought that album along with "Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City," however, I haven't played either of them in quite some time. There seems to be some anticipation for his new album among a few people I know, but I honestly can't say I'm looking forward to it (he tends to be overhyped at times in my view). I'll check it out more than likely, but it's not on my (immediate) radar.

*I've had Onyx's second album, "All We Got Iz Us" in my ride all this week, and it's still as dope today as it was some 20 years ago when it dropped; the way time has flown by from the 80s and 90s continues to amaze me. When it comes to my favorite Onyx album, It's between this one and their 1993 debut, "Bacdafucup," but I find myself leaning more towards AWGIU for that spot. Songs like the title track, "Walk In N.Y.," "Last Dayz," "Purse Snatchaz," which had Sticky Fingaz best verse ever, "Shout," "Most Def," and "Betta Off Dead," just to name a few, are tight as hell and have aged quite well. 4.5 stars for this one.

*I did check out Ghostface Killah's album with BADBADNOTGOOD, "Sour Soul," via SoundCloud stream prior to its release. I eventually ordered from the good folks at I like it a lot and off the first listen, it's another 4 star album in his discography. Hopefully his long awaited album with MF Doom and the sequel to "Supreme Clientele" will see the light of day.

*The second album from eMC, "The Tonite Show," is set for release on May 5th, and with anything involving Masta Ace, I'm really looking forward to it. I should have the album pre-ordered by the time you read this.

Outside of this, everything is going quite well with me, no complaints. I am taking care of a few things in my personal life along with changes along the way, but I haven't forgot about my blog! Thanks for reading as usual, plus the "Infamous Mobb Deep" project is still in the works as we speak! Take care!!
